Saman Farhangdoust

Assistant Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Dr. Saman Farhangdoust is pursuing the goal of using his interdisciplinary knowledge to advance the Smart City and Space concept and make a lasting impact on society. He enjoys exploring new disciplines to integrate cutting-edge technologies and develop innovative solutions to contemporary structural safety challenges. Saman served as a Postdoctoral Scholar and Lab Manager at the Structures and Composites Laboratory in the Aeronautics and Astronautics Department at Stanford University for 2.5 years. His work focuses on multi-functional materials and smart structures, with a particular emphasis on intelligent self-sensing diagnostics and integrated health management for space and aircraft structures.

In addition to his research at Stanford, Saman collaborates with the MIT Media Lab as a Technical Consultant and with Boeing Research and Technology as a Research Consultant, aiming to advance vibro-acoustic sensing and self-powered structural health monitoring systems.Recognized as a talented young researcher, Saman has made valuable multidisciplinary contributions at an international level. His research activities have resulted in more than 40 publications, including journal articles, conference proceedings, a textbook, U.S. patents, national reports, and guidelines.
